Creating or converting your publication(s)
MAPG can convert your print ready publication into a variety of popular eBook formats.
It is important to note that with all electronic publications we are seeking to produce the best possible reading experience - regardless of device - and in some circumstance, we will be only able to produce eBooks based on the limitations of the format or the device/application.
The digital publishing world is growing very rapidly and technologies are changing all the time enabling more and more things to be done. We assure you of our commitment to keep your ePublication as up to date as it can be - from an experience point of view - inline with these advances in technology.
We can work with you during the initial design and production phases of your publication or we can simply take your press quality PDF and digitise from there.
The advantage that we have when converting from PDF, is that all styles and formatting are well recognised by our state-of-the-art PDF rendering system and are convertedinto a well structured XHTML (XML) portal ready for review /design or style tweaks and final export into your required format (eg ePub, Mobipocket, iPad, print on demand).
Costs are presented to you as a page rate and will vary depending on the complexity of the text design, layout, rich content (if applicable) and targetted eReader or application (where required).
Backlists that are bundled together for bulk volume conversions can receive significant discounts - please contact us to discuss this further.
The XML advantage
from Wikipedia
XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a set of rules for encoding documents electronically. It is defined in the XML 1.0 Specification produced by the W3C, and several other related specifications, all gratis open standards.[3]
XML’s design goals emphasize simplicity, generality, and usability over the Internet.[4] It is a textual data format, with strong support via Unicode for the languages of the world. Although XML’s design focuses on documents, it is widely used for the representation of arbitrary data structures, for example in web services.
What does all this mean??
Esentially, once we have your publication setup as a well structured XML document, we have future proofed the contents ability to be exported into any current electronic publishing format (ie ePub) or any future, undiscovered electornic publihsing format.
In very short turn around, we can export your XML publication to ePub, mobipocket, print on demand, publish to a website and more.
